Name: Darren Bonner (Daz)
Day he passed on to pastures new: 28th May 2007
Age: 31
Occupation: Lead Signaller in the Royal Anglian 1st Battalion
Darren was born in Barking Essex and then he and the family moved to Edmonton and then to Tottenham. From there we all moved to the countryside in Thorney Peterborough. It was here he decided to join the army.
Darren lived with his mum Christine, and his three sisters Keely, Claire and Dannielle. Once he joined the army he lived almost everywhere!
On the 28th May 2007, Darren was tragically involved in a landmine explosion in Afghanistan, in Helmand Province, whilst on patrol. At this moment our lives were changed forever.............. This beautiful man was snatched from our lives..............
Darren was totally devoted to his job in the army, he lived and breathed the army. He was a big man with a big heart and loved everyone, and everybody he touched loved him. He was a presence that no one could ignore and most of all he was my big brother.
Darren was an ardent spurs fan, who enjoyed nothing more than going to watch them play. Any Arsenal fans he knew, he would make them a cuppa in a Spurs mug and took delight in watching them drink it, and enjoy it!!
Darren was full of life, was very bubbly, and enjoyed telling a joke or two, played jokes on everyone, he was a big charmer especially with the all the ladies!
Everyone knew when Darren was in the room, it would be lit up with laughter and smiles. He was just a huge person with a big heart and you couldn't help but love him.
Im so proud of you Darren, I've always looked up to you, words cant describe how much I miss you.
Im still waiting for you to burst through the door, with stories and jokes to tell. As your baby sister you always protected me, and I know you'll always be there with me, keeping me safe. I am so so proud of you, I'm so lucky to have a brother as kind, warm, caring, fun and brave as you.
I cant wait to see you again. I love you Darren, my big brother, my hero. Love your baby sister

Flower of the eternal sleep
Watching with the ones who weep.
You, whose lives, so short in bloom,
Saw such bloodshed, death and gloom.
... You trembled to the sound of guns
Which tore to death beloved sons.
You fluttered, died. before your time -
Dropped blood red petals in their prime.
Crimson poppies 'neath the clouds -
Short lived, yet colourful and proud;
Now worn by humans with such pride
Remembering those who bravely died.
You represent young lives cut short -
Those who, for freedom, bravely fought.
Flower of the eternal sleep -
Silently your vigil keep.
xxxxxxxxxx
Love u big bro xxx
4 years have gone by and yet it still feels like yesterday. It still doesn't feel real...
Been thinking of you so much and would love to cuddle you tightly. I know your here with us all.
Wearing your Tshirt and watching the waves crashing against the sand... Sun beaming down and I know your here with me.
There is so much I want to speak with you about right now and so much to say but I don't know where to begin.
Come and visit me in my dreams tonight... Want a cuddle big bro and to see your cheeky grin.
I love you smelly xxxxx so so much xxxxxxxxxxx
4 YEARS, MORE TEARS, ALWAYS WISHING YOU WERE HERE
Well Daz it's been 4 years since that awful day and everytime it comes around we feel like we're right back there, feeling it all over again.
Its hard for mum, being her birthday aswell, she says to compromise the first half of the day is all about you and the last part is all about her haha!! But truthfully, her birthdays have never been the same since she lost you.
Your plot has had a big makeover, I was there yesterday and WOW boy, you're looking good, my mum, John and Wayne worked hard doing that and the results are stunning Daz, you stand out like the star you are.
I hope that you're looking over us all today and know how many people love you, miss you and are thinking about you, even if they're not there at the service. There are so many people that will be feeling the sadness today Daz.
I love you always,
Dani XXXX
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE UPDATE
Hey Daz,
Bad news babe, we're out of the Champions League. We got spanked at the Bernabeu 4-0 and the return leg at the Lane was 0-1. Oh well, we tried but we're not good enough really. I know you would probably whack me one for daring to say that but it's true, outclassed in both games. So back to the fight for a top 4 finish to have another go next year, some BIG games coming up, Man City, Chelsea and the scum.
Mum and Dean are going to the ground on Sunday, I got them a couple of tickets for the stadium tour for Deans birthday and mothers day so they're excited about that, hopefullu it should perk them up after the disappointment!!
Can't believe it's been nearly 4 years since we lost you, next month your soldier boys will be down paying their respects for another year gone, it's nice that they do that every year, you meant a lot to them just like you mean the world to us.
We played coward of the county the other day at the grave and had a sing along, that always makes us smile and think of you, especially at the end where we change the word to batallion just like you did lol!!
Sleep tight, love you millions always,
Dani XXXX
SPURS AT THE BERNABEU!!!! REAL MADRID AT THE LANE!!!!!
We did it Daz!! Champions League quarter finalists after we drew with AC Milan at the lane!!
The bad news? We drew Real Madrid in the quarter finals.
The other good news? The scum got done AGAIN by Barcelona, hahahahahahaha!!
Know that will make you happy, we're going to the bernabeu and they're coming to the lane, amazing, we'll need all your magic Daz for those games coz it will be tough.
We all miss you millions and are always thinking of you Daz, hope you know that babe.
Love you
Dani XXXX
NUMBER 1 YID
Hey Daz,
Just thought I would update you on our Champions League journey. We played AC Milan at the San Siro last week and beat them 0-1! They've now got to come to the lane for the second leg and if we get the result we'll be in the quarter finals!!
Not too bad for our first attempt at the big time eh Daz?
Just wish you were here to see it babe. Your dad comes round ours and watches all the games with us and I know he's thinking the same thing.
We're planning a bit of a revamp on your plot soon Daz, get some new stones and spruce you up a bit, ready for the anniversary hopefully. Can't believe it will be 4 years soon, still feels like yesterday.
Sleep tight Daz,
Dani XXXX
